1:72 ESCI "8th Army (My first small scale try!!)

Yep ! Here comes the time to try my skills ( and my eyes!!) on this scale!I have lots of figures collected and I always had it in my mind. So I started with some familiar figures for me. I have painted 8th Army sometimes in the past so it would be easy for a start..
These figures are from the 1983 ESCI set 207. Not the full set but just five figures.

With this set I tried a new product also. The "Anti-Shine  Matt Varnish" for brush  from Army Painter Warpaints. Now I wonder how did I never try this in the past !!  I was always using spray varnishes and never was quite satisfied as now... I thing my problems are gone on this issue..:)

I wan to say "Thank You" to all the small scale painters out there who had inspired my and motivate me all this time with their post and painting skills and make me wanna be a part of that scale :)

Here are some close up pictures below from my first 1:72 figures. Criticize or advising comments are always welcomed!

and one white and bright for the finale..!

Thanks for watching and stay tuned for some more of these little fellows..:)

'Till next time..

Keep Up The Brushes!!!

Matchbox "British 8th Army" - Field Marshal Monty

Hi there! Continuing with  the figures I've painted in the past  I would like to show you a Beautiful Historical miniature from Matchbox's 1:32 "British 8th Army" set. It is the figure of General "Monty", or else, "Spartan General" ,or officially ,Field Marshal Bernard Law Montgomery.
For the History.....he was the commander of the British and Allied forces ,"8th Army", during the battle of El Alamein ,the battle that critically changes the course of WW2.You can see below some original pictures that inspired me for the colours I used for that figure.

I painted this figure at March 2013 and unfortunately it has some small scratches on the face, and the noose was a little bit damaged. Although I painted and tried to cover up the damage.. Since I don't have that figure anymore I hope that I will paint another one in the future and this time it will be in a small diorama that I have in mind....For now, here are two pictures of "my" Monty.....

Thank you for visiting my blog!!

Matchbox "8th Army"

Hi, welcome to another small journey with my painting adventures. This time I will present the first attempt I had with Matchbox figures in the beginning of 2013.These five figures  was part of the "8th Army" issue and they come to me as part of a collection of Matchbox figures I bought. This is not the complete set.

With these figures had started a new era for me.I tried to
make my figures more detailed in face and the expressions
of these Matchbox figures where great to do that...

Even though my painting is still "dirty"
the faces of these figures look great to
me until now!

Also I started to paint insignia on some figures but not correctly as I can see now. Another problem
I had, was with varnish. You can see that three of the figures are having a green shading on the uniform.
I still haven't found the reason that the color turned to green after varnishing. It never happened again....
Maybe there was to much moisture that day or something about the stirring of the varnish can...anyway...

The  figure  below is  not a part of this issue but it is  from  the  "British Infantry" .  I don't think that
this  conversion is  incorrect historically since  there were also long trousers in the desert uniform and the
equipment was the same in most of the cases.

Here you can see the group together.

These figures were my favorite job for a long time. I will keep them until the repainting and this time it will
be full set and as accurate as it can be!!!

I hope you enjoyed the journey and  this post was helpful to someone . Please feel free to ask anything or
leave any comment.Thank you for visiting my blog!!

    Till next time........See ya!!!!.....

Airfix 8th Army Review

Somehow I should start this journey and I've decided to do so by sharing some of my older projects.
A lot of figures have been destroyed in my beginning mostly by using too much colour, wrong varnish(!),
even wrong colours!! Some of them, I like them until now, even though the techniques used were very poor
to none.
Airfix figures are, as usual,  the first "victims", and here you'll see two of my attempts of painting British
"8th Army", also known as "Desert Rats".
In the first two pictures you can see the first group that looked nice to me, even though the colours (of
the uniform ) were wrong and there are no weathering or shadowing techniques. Not even face details!

   The mould lines haven't been
cleared and at some point  they
look bad! In this group was the
first time I used insignia.
  Not correctly though.....

The next group was much more detailed and with the correct uniform colour and face details. Also
there was a conversion (only in colours) of a "British Infantry" figure to a Desert Rat....Here you can see
my first attempts in weathering and shadowing techniques.

Bases are still empty, just painted...
From that point you can see some nice
detail in the figures faces, not yet very
realistic.Much more like comic
 characters!

So these two attempts where the only ones worthy to display. In the future I will try again for a more
realistic result.I have some more of these figures, including an officer.I just want to search a little bit more
about insignia and how it was placed on the uniform.
In the next posts i will continue the review of my previous Airfix projects (British Commando, German
Infantry, etc.)

Hope you enjoyed our first journey as I did..........see ya!!!
