Lord of the Rings - Uruk Hai Swordsmen

    More than two months have past since my last post and these figures are waiting ready in the photo booth for over one month.Finally I find some time to take a lot of pictures and upload this post!
   This unit is an addition to my Mordor's Army and one of my favorite figures set.The recipe is known and easy.....Dark and dirty armor, leather belts,rag clothes, dark skins and wrathful faces.....

Lord Of The Rings - Uruk Hai Spearman unit

    

          Hi there,   not many words are  needed  to describe  these figures!  The  most  powerful and famous

Sauron's troopers, modified from Saruman and lined up in an "Ancient Greek" way to fight....the "Phalanx"   (a not disciplined, angry and "funny" kind of Phalanx )!! 

         I've primed these figures with black color.  Black priming helps if you want a dark outcome.

         Dark and dirty metal armors  and weapons ,  rag underclothes  ,  leather belts , dark flesh and  rasta dreadlocks....That's it, you got an Uruk Hai fighter.....

Lord of the Rings - Legolas

  
 This week I've finished this figure that has been left over for some months and I 'm very happy that I finally did it!! Legolas is my favorite character from LOTR so you will see some more of him in the future..

     I 've made a "base conversion" for this figure and now is more a "Vignette" than a playable figure.To do that, I've used some Modelling plaster with coarse surface, a sea wood (wood pieces weathered by the sea and collected at the beach..I 'm collecting many every summer!!) and a handmade wooden base.Also the classic grass tufts and foliage.

   Here are some pictures of the various stages of the procedure.

"Britains" Medieval Knight - Figure 1

       About a year a go I bought some "Britains" figures of Medieval Knights and Saracens.These figures are from the "Deetail" series mostly produced at 1971 and comes already painted. My plan was to repaint the full two sets but I've stooped in the first figure due to some new challenges.

       I will continue with this plan in the future and I will add the WW2 "Britains" sets also. Of coarse is not my priority, but it will happen....

       These figures have a very nice detail (and that's how the name of the series comes!) but the painting is only for playing with purpose, and not for a modellers-collectors standard.Also they have some mould lines that have to be cleared of (something I didn't do very well for that first figure!!), and their weapons are from very soft plastic, so the paint is not very easy to adhere and it breaks when it's bending!!

       I've painted this figure with dark tones in order to give the dark Medieval feeling but I will try with some shinny armours in some of the next figures.I've used the British Empire red and yellow colours for the shield.

Matchbox "British 8th Army" - Field Marshal Monty

     Hi there! Continuing with  the figures I've painted in the past  I would like to show you a Beautiful Historical miniature from Matchbox's 1:32 "British 8th Army" set. It is the figure of General "Monty", or else, "Spartan General" ,or officially ,Field Marshal Bernard Law Montgomery.

     For the History.....he was the commander of the British and Allied forces ,"8th Army", during the battle of El Alamein ,the battle that critically changes the course of WW2.You can see below some original pictures that inspired me for the colours I used for that figure.

            

     I painted this figure at March 2013 and unfortunately it has some small scratches on the face, and the noose was a little bit damaged. Although I painted and tried to cover up the damage.. Since I don't have that figure anymore I hope that I will paint another one in the future and this time it will be in a small diorama that I have in mind....For now, here are two pictures of "my" Monty.....

My First Elves

      Finally , I manage to find some time to take a few pictures and made another small post.These figures are

painted in  2013  and they are my first  High Elves  from Lord of the Rings. I started to paint them in order  

to experiment with gold armour ,something that I haven't try before at that time. It is only three archers and two swordsmen.They come to me partially and messy painted  so they where the perfect subject to experiment....

    Although I made these figures to test the armour parts I finally loved the clothes and capes!!!

      I've just realised now that I had done very poor job for the bases and I will do something about that....

For now, you can enjoy some pictures.......
