After a small break I'm back on track with my WW2 1:32 project. This time an "Allied Forces" set of figures is on my table. I've started the "Matchbox - British Infantry" set and I believe I will complete it within the next month! "British Infantry" and "8th Army" was my favorite sets of figures when I was young! I was upset with Matchbox because they had only 15 figures in the box against 20+ that Airfix sets had...
Despite that, I loved all the Matchbox figures and until now ,I believe that they are better than some Airfix sets ,even though some of the details was a little bit "chubby" or simple.
These figures where at the edges of 1:32 scale size (54mm) and they have
excellent face expressions . And I believe this is the part that they beat Airfix.

George, what a wonderful post and painting you did!! These minis are part of my childhood in the seventies - if memory serves, they had a moustached officer :)... You turn toys into museum pieces! Thanks for sharing, cheers!! :D
ReplyDeleteThanx again for your very warm comments my friend! Yes, the officer is it self a museum piece!I believe that it represents an Historical figure.(eg.The officer of the "8th Army" set is General Montgomery and is an excellent accurate figure!)

Hey George you did a fantastic job on these figures. Again I must say! You have a very nice way of painting figures. I can't stop watching them. I hope Revell will reissue one day the "8th Army" and the "Afrika Corps" in this scale from Matchbox. I miss these in my collection. They did it with the 1/72 scale soldiers, so there is still hope.
